With the continental finals of Africa, South America and North America and the Caribbean having been played and concluded over the course of the past few weeks, the latest edition of the FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking sees changes leaning towards that fact.

Unsurprisingly, the regional kings are some of the primary beneficiaries in the July update.

Brazil are 2nd, up 1 position after leapfrogging France who drop to 3rd, and trail leaders Belgium by a narrow margin of 20 points.

The Copa America action substantially improved the Ranking positions of its participants, as the top ten contains quartet of South American teams, namely:

Quarter-finalists Uruguay (5th, up 3);

Colombia (8th, up 5);and

Venezuela (26th, up 7) [ their best-ever Ranking]

Argentina (10th, up 1)

African champions Algeria are 40th , up 28 positions are the biggest mover in the July edition by both ranks and points (up 117),

Fellow AFCON finalists Senegal who are 20th and by up 2 potions, may not have made a huge leap but have reached their best-ever Ranking position.

Semi-finalists Nigeria 33rd, are up 12 positions , while surprise quarter-finalists Madagascar are 96th, up 12 positions.

Benin, who are 82nd, up 6 positions.

CONCACAF champions Mexico are 12th, up 6 positions with the losing finalist USAnow 22nd, up 8 positions made big strides up the table. The surprise package of the tournament and semi-finalist Haiti are 83rd, up 18 positions.

While the South American sides dominate the upper echelons of the ranking, there have been significant gains by sides taking part in both the Africa Cup of Nations and the Concacaf Gold Cup

With the continental finals of Africa, South America, and North, Central America and the Caribbean reaching a crescendo in the past month, the latest edition of the FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking has seen a number of significant changes. Unsurprisingly, the regional kings are some of the primary beneficiaries in the July update.

New South American champions Brazil (2nd, up 1) leapfrogged France (3rd, down 1) in second place and trail leaders Belgium by a narrow margin of 20 points. Other sides in the Copa América have improved their ranking positions substantially, namely quarter-finalists Uruguay (5th, up 3), Colombia (8th, up 5), and Venezuela (26th, up 7), who reached their best-ever ranking position after their run to the last eight. Argentina (10th, up 1), who came third, complete a quartet of South American teams in the top ten.
